I started learning 3d animation and modeling in 2004 using Newtek Lightwave. Although initially a bit unimpressed by the difficulty and the complexity, I soon realised the immense potential of 3d as a form of art. I realised that I didn't want to work in 3d because it was cool but because it had the potential to let me create anything I wanted to and gave me the power to control every aspect of my work.
Since then, I've started learning Maya, slowly building up my knowledge of all the technical aspects, which, as I've slowly realised are really important. Its more than having a good idea, its being able to create it so that it not only generates some human emotion, but makes the viewer not look at the technical aspects, but be engaged in what they're watching and believe the emotions portrayed as real ones.
My goal is to create works of art (whether incredibly tacky or deeply thoughtful) that cause the viewer to forget about the modeling, rigging, texturing, the animation, posing and lighting, and be excited by what they're seeing, and believe in what they see, as if, those characters were real. I hope I'm able to get a lot of feedback by people who have been doing this a long time, by artists, both establised and new ones, so that I can grow and learn and be a more creative and talented artist myself.
